Only one letter to go...

Changed the embedded directshow player for an embedded in a seperate window. Directshow has two serious bugs: it doesn't regulate it's input flow when receiving by http and eventually overbuffers and aborts, and it also bluescreens. I have replaced it with Windoze Media Player embedded in a separate window. Now that the overbuffer/flow control bug has gone I've made it prebuffer fast again so it starts quickly.

Still some aesthetic things unfixed: flashing taskbar icon, menu on taskbar, no miniplayer, etc. These can still wait.

Play with the video please.
Note that if you broadcast using a higher version of Windoze Media than the user has installed codecs for, the video doesn't play in the internal window and it does not show a warning yet. But it will sometimes play in external VLC. I saw Viper's video stream doing this.
External video also uses an .asx redirector file names as a .wmv file. This is because .asx is not registered on many PC's by default, but .wmv is. VLC and WMP both recognise it isn't a real .wmv file and open it correctly.

The top buttons are now bigger, 12 pix high, and are arranged on the bitmap in a row the same as all the other buttons instead of in pairs. The buttons bitmaps now need to be 484 by 21 pix.

Yes thanks. Bigger top buttons are cool.

I had no problems streaming audio (ogg) so far. Sorry i can't test video much but i'm not a video freak. I would like to see some more issues from the old beta postings fixed. The new GUI isn't bad but for a 1.47 replacement it needs some more tweaking

Cause of the lag of users in v2.0 testing isn't fun right now. Maybe it's a good idea to release more frequent betas and more improovements and fixed issues from version to version. If reported issues stay unfixed for weeks and there is nearly no feedback from the developer the people become uninterested *hint* 8)

keep up the good work :)

I'm unable to get the stats.xml under this latest release.

I am trying somethings:

http://192.168.x.x:8000/xml/stats.xml?password=showme

I get a 200 OK, but none of the XML stat information which was available in 1.47.

Hello Iain,

I've been looking at promoting Streamer via the UK community radio network, as non of them seem to use it, but maybe it's too early to do this with the prospect of Streamer 2 on the way, particularly as the two versions are not interchangeable.

Do you intend to merge the station lists at some stage?

The community radio licensees are heavily regulated in the UK to ring fence their assets and ensure that they do not profit from their activities. At one time their Association the CRA provided internet streaming (icecast) for free to members, but they now make a charge for this, so limiting connections.

While most community stations seem to support few streams, probably because they have sufficient FM coverage locally, there are some who have only low power or AM outlets who would benefit from a less restrictive online system.

Regards, Tony Bailey
