Hi Fellow broadcasters
Just a quick mail to let you all know that I have discovered severe instability problems
while attempting to use TuVb6.03 (winlame cddex) Ogg Vorbis and its associated LIB
On my system:
Amd 2800 (single core)
windows 2000
Oddcast V3
Previously I was using the original Oddcast V3 distibution codecs for more than 5years without problem
and the switch was made because I desided to upgrade to resent release of the ogg encoders.
I suspect that the problem is due to enbedded Surround-Sound support within the TuVb6.03 build
(
my system is 2 channel Stereo, thou the hardware soundcard is 5:1 )
Also I notied during testing, that TuVb6.03 only appears to support sample rates of 44100 & 22050Khz
( I usually use 32000khz with Q=3.5 )!
also in comparision to the distribution one, TuVb6.03 codec
requires 300% more CPU time in order encode a FIXED bit-rate stream
( not that I use this mode, I was just testing it )!
Hence:
I am presently testing with libVorbis v1.3.2 libary & Ogg vorbis encoders.
http://www.rarewares.org/ogg-libraries.phphopefully these will be more sucessful. (
they certantly sound fine )
if not, I will be reinstating the original Oddcast (distribution) codec's & Libaries
