Iain, this program is excellent, and a credit to you mate. I'm sure P2P radio like this is the way forward.
I have nothing against Shoutcast - it's a great system, except for one major problem - upload bandwidth costs. This of course will continue due to ISP monopolies not investing in archaic infrastructure. A 3 meg internet connection is really great with a 256k (224k with overheads) upload capacity isn't it!!!
The other looming problem for Shoutcast of course is that Time/WarnerAOL or whatever have pulled the plug on winamp. Well what would you expect from a predatory, dare I say it - capitalist corporation. So you will now be forced to use another big boy's products and have your eyes ripped out.
Mercora is a non-starter - it's not radio, it's just a track listening sharing service, but of course with its recent massive funding injection the masses will probably be duped.
Anyway, Streamer sounds great (according to our listener reports!) and we'll do our bit to promote it on air and on our website and via our contacts.
Let's hope we reach the "critical mass". Many thanks for enhancing our broadcasting Iain.
