Thanks for sharing this feedback

Surely not the kind of feedback you/we/Iain likes to receive.
Something must went wrong there. 30min for bandwidth test and tuning in is way to long.
You as the broadcaster should not firewall streamer (UDP port 8466 is default). It's a router setting (often called "applications and games" or "port forward"). If both (station and listener) are firewalled / behind a NAT router it is difficult to connect sometimes. Maybe the listener was getting a bad peer or a peer behind NAT and there was a NAT<-->NAT situation.
I don't know how long streamer tries to connect to a peer until it moves on to another one. Iain coded it and probably knows best
There are parts of the complaint i don't understand like:
Quote:
We don't have to install some other wierd proram or sign up to a service and pay to listen to the radio online.
[...]
Unfortunately... none of the Love Radio stations are on the list, because you all have some unorthodox method of tuning in..
Ok maybe wierd to him. Not more wierd than Windows Media Player. Are all programs wierd cause they are not shipped with windows by default? And he also has not to sign up or pay anything for streamer. I think he mixed something up.

I would suggest you to
offer him
help with tuning in and try to solve his problem. It's better to
support users than letting them alone / frustrated.

How's about a short
"get tuned" tutorial on your site?
Introduce streamer to your listeners and not just link to the download!

Users can join the "Lobby" chatroom and asking for help.
