P2P traffic decreased by 15% only to be back to previous levels just three weeks after the massive crackdown on file sharing users in Germany.

[...]
P2P traffic currently makes up between 50% (day-time) and 80% (night-time) of Germany's Internet traffic. Thereof about 50% is eDonkey (mainly eMule), 45% BitTorrent and 2.5% Gnutella. While any P2P software can be generally used to exchange legal content, only BitTorrent is significantly used for such purposes.

Hmmmm ok thanks. What are you selling? Ah ok yes, Traffic Managers!
Whats your newest product? I see, a Peer-to-Peer — P2P filter module for your traffic managers.

Expensive P2P: File sharing based on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks has surpassed the World Wide Web as the single most bandwidth-consuming application in many parts of today's Internet. It can cause a substantial increase in traffic volume which in turn incurs rising communication costs and adversely affects the performance of other network applications such as Web, E-Mail and File Transfer. Legacy filtering approaches based on port numbers are error prone. They produce many mismatches (about 30-50%) and are easily circumvented.

Supported Protocols:

* eDonkey
* DirectConnect
* Gnutella
* KaZaa
* BitTorrent
* AppleJuice
* SoulSeek
* WinMX
* Ares
* MUTE
* Freenet
* XDCC
* Voice over IP — VoIP/Skype
* AOL/ICQ
* MSN
* Yahoo
* IRC
* Jabber

Seems they missed some protocols :D That's Bullshit marketing :!:

They talk as if you are parasitizing their network, rather than using a network that you have paid for.
And since when have skype calls been piracy?

Encrypting network traffic puts a stop to snooping like this, I forsee it becoming standard. One bittorrent client already uses it, and it doesn't mysteriously slow down where normal clients do.

Encrypting traffic also has the handy side-effect of making reverse engineering an app and snooping traffic illegal under the DMCA, not the intended intention of that particular example of payola-legislation. If I encrypt Streamer, it automatically makes any evidence gathered by snooping it's data inadmisible in court

The rate limitation is invisible to P2P users

No it isn't.
