Not only in the US.

A report on "Cultural Industries" will be adopted next Tuesday in the European Parliament (CULT committee) which is requesting the suspension of internet connections for those who download, together with mandatory internet filtering measures for ISPs all over Europe. The amendment is proposed by british MEP Christopher Heaton-Harris. Some other amendments also covers "P2P website designers". It might be a good idea to contact MEPs members of CULT and ask them to reject this intrusive proposal.

I think i need a VPN gateway outside europe soon. Dedicated servers are not that expensive nowadays. You can share it with one or two friends.

And yes i know TOR but it is not a solution.

Hi all, This stinks of big brother. Like, maybe they get AT&T to do their dirty work for them. I know that sounds a little farfetched but who knows. AT&T has been not so pleased ever since the gov broke up Ma Bell years ago. Maybe they worked something out.

And we want even go into what the RIAA thinks about people downloading music. Wouldn't put it pass them to be in on it.

I know this sounds like a conspiracy theory but it went through my head as I was reading and thought I would throw it out there.

Regards, Jim

People who illegally download films and music will be cut off from the internet under new legislative proposals to be unveiled next week.

Internet service providers (ISPs) will be legally required to take action against users who access pirated material, The Times has learnt.

Users suspected of wrongly downloading films or music will receive a warning e-mail for the first offence, a suspension for the second infringement and the termination of their internet contract if caught a third time, under the most likely option to emerge from discussions about the new law.

Warning letters to 'file-sharers'
Virgin Media has sent about 800 letters to customers warning them that they should not be downloading illegal music files via file-sharing sites.

Have these people not actually heard of encryption and onion routing?.

Three strikes and you are out translates to one or two strikes and you are using encryption.

And best of all (there get out clause)

Most modern day UK ISP's only provide an uplink service
(ie.. Email isnt included in the package)

Goverment slip up, yet again :-)
