I'm in the process of setting up a number of internet radio streams and using StreamerP2P seems the obvious way to go.

Our listeners would obviously have to download the client, but the problem is that we have a very high percentage of elderly listeners who aren't going to find downloading a client easy - never mind installing and configuring it!

It would be a great help if we could supply our listeners with a version already pre-configured (as much as humanly possible) and already 'tuned-in' to our stations by default.

I'd therefore like StreamerP2P client which is:

1. Pretty - a skinned version which looks like a radio which can be dragged around the desktop.

2. Minimalistic Mouse Controls - an On/Off button, channel selector and volume knob should be enough.

3. Channel Lockdown function - maybe a supplied file for example could contain the locations of just the streams on our web site. When you change or add new channels you simply supply a new config file.

As a Delphi programmer, I'd like to give it a go. Anyone know where I can get more info on doing this and whether or not it would be allowed by the author of StreamerP2P? (I've tried PM'ing him, but no response so far).

If it could be done and I end up with what I'm after, I'd gladly supply the author of StreamerP2P a version of the program for everyone else to use.

Thanks in advance...

If you put a file start.dat in the streamer program folder (C:\Program files\Streamer\) with the station link the program will tune in this station on startup. Streamer deletes the start.dat but if you write protect it streamer will always tune the station on startup.

This in a start.dat tunes KMeat - Free Form Rock
Code:
streamerp2p://s=db22d79e379e7890|n=KMeat - Free Form Rock [next UnWiReD 2/14 1800CST]|b=53|t=ogg|h=emsvanhdwuhpijcqvqcpjdincwsv|

Your listeners don't have to configure anything.
1, 2, 3 - Install, wait until bandwidth test is finished and you are ready to go.
More than a default station can't be preconfigured cause all other stuff is "auto detected" and auto configured.

You can also set a station as favourite (right click station in the stations list and "Set as favourite") and check "Auto play favourite station when Streamer starts" under [Config], Panel "Misc". Has the same effect. Favourite station starts playing as soon as streamer starts.

 Your listeners are no idiots, i'm sure  Create a pretty turorial page with the important steps WITH screenshots and i'm sure they can manage to do the three steps needed to listen to your station.

Pretty client, slim down and so on:
Iain is coding like crazy to get the next version up and running  This one will look the same but contains major improvements in the network code. I'm sure after the important things Iain will go on and do some skin and interface stuff.

Be patient if you don't get a rapid reply. Iain is very busy lately

OK - thanks for that info.

Out of interest, we are looking at putting a dozen or so stations on-line and we would like to restrict our users (by default) to only seeing a list of our stations with our version of the player. Obviously, should anyone want to dig deeper into the config of the client, they would also be able to connect to any of the other stations available should they wish.

I can understand that Iain is rather busy programming (coding is also my job too, so I can sympathize with him completely), so I'm mentioning this just in case he sees this - and has a 'possible things to add in the future' list! :)

I've created a prototype player in the style I was thinking about, but it only plays MP3's at the moment:

It's not a image mock-up BTW - that's a screenshot of the program running, though only the MP3 side of things works as yet.

If Iain happens to see this and thinks that what I have already done is along similar lines to what he has planned, then he's welcome to use what I have done rather than re-inventing the wheel...
