i am interested in promoting your software streamer to chinese users

i just wonder how can i customize it.

i need it to be in Chinese language and users can add seed list in case all default seed peers are blocked.

at the moment it's not possible to customize the language of the program. I hope Iain will add language support in a future version
At the moment you can setup a chinese help page with screenshots and chinese translations so they know how to use and setup streamer p2p radio.

If you have a chinese translation (website) please let us know. I'll add the page to the list of translations:

Add more seeds to streamer:
I haven't used it for a long time but you can create a text file called seeds.txt in the streamer installation folder (e.g. C:\Program files\Streamer\). Add one ip:port combination per row. Streamer will read that on startup and add it to the internal hosts list.

You can see the hostlist by doing this:


Click on the empty button


You can see the hostlist now. It's possible to add new peers by hand (marked blue)


This way you can add more peers from inside china if the great firewall blocks all official seeds. If a user has a few valid seeds a few blocked ones doesn't matter

about the Great Firewall of China:

if a peer inside China is not able to reach your server (gatekeeper ?), but he is able to connect to some of other peers located inside or outside of China, can he still get full information of station list and listen to any station as usual?

right. You don't need the static seeds for normal operation. They are only for the initial contact for new users or users without any valid/operating hosts in their lists. Streamer always tries to connect to the static seeds first but as soon as you have one valid host you have full access to the whole network and also getting new hosts through the network.

There is no gatekeeper or single point of failure. They can block the streamer website but this only means you can't use the web based services.

At the moment it looks like the great firewall doesn't block streamer. Mainly cause it uses UDP and doesn't need any DNS servers to resolve hostnames. They have to block all ip's outside china or do deep packet inspection to block streamer / filter out streamer data. The blocking doesn't work cause the great firewall normaly sends reset packets to both sides to interrupt the TCP connection. This doesn't work on UDP.
