You might double check and see if one of more of your artists has a trailing space. I know that will trigger a duplicate entry but I think will still produce the artists in the list.

HEY!!! - That did it. Only one of the 11 songs (and not the 1st song either) by Dakota Fate had a trailing space in the ID3 tag. Now I'm off to find the rest. THANKS!!!

Yeah sorry I didn't come out with that faster but i've slept many times since I put that all together for my site. I had to go 80% through all of the thinking about what I found that was causing that with mine and then SMACK Oh yeah! The other 20% fell into place and I posted. Heh.. glad that was it.

All I want to do, in the simliest possible way, is to display on my website that I am currently broadcasting & the song title. Then provide a link that will load streamer.

It can look exactly like information on Streamer station page of my station.

I am totally lost by all the technical stuff in this guide. Isn't there just a simple HTML code I can place on my page?

Thanks.

Dang - I posted a long reply and it didn't save for some reason. Lemme try agin.

1) To let people know that you are broadcasting, use a little tool that Ian set up at http://www.streamerp2p.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1018

2) To display what song you are currently playing using SongRequester, you have to know:
A) that you do indeed have a static IP address when connected to the internet and what that exact static IP address is. Otherwise you need to use a service that will do that for you.
B) how to set the port settings of your router, if you are using one.

Other than that, the web page that Planet Texas has set up at the beginning of this thread does exactly what you want to do.

No, there is no simple code that you can plug in to make it happen. It takes quite a few steps, but nothing that is very very difficult.

The technical stuff can be challenging for some people. The best thing to do is print it out and read it over & over again. I had difficulty with it and put it on the back burner for 7 months and tried it again. Then bingo! - it all made sense. If you read the threads, you'll see that I had lots of problems, but the folks here helped me out. However, for them or I to help you out, you'll have to go through the steps and set up SongRequester on your computer. If (and when) you hit a snag, provide us with the specific problem/error and someone will be able to help you here. You just can't say "it doesn't work".

3) To have a link that will start Streamer, review the Broadcaster's help page at http://www.streamerp2p.com/?page=bhelp.htm & scroll 1/2 way down.The "Save URL" button on your Broadcast page within Streamer will do this for you.

Hope this helps.
Marty

Thanks man. Your post helped me to get exactly what I wanted for my website in like 5 minutes.

Now I can study the tech stuff and get the song titles listed down the road.

All I needed now was the on air code and how to post the link.

You rock!

I took the time to read through everything, and following all the directions, I'm thrilled to report that it works perfectly.

Thanks to everyone! :D

One thing only isn't working. Time remaining in song doesn't display at all. Not a huge deal, but if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.

Try changing your javascript code in your CGI to this:
Code:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">

<!-- Begin

var ms;

ms = 214 - 5;

var stop;

stop = 0;

var myvalue;

function display() {

if (!stop) {

setTimeout("display();", 1000);

}

// thetime.value = myvalue;

this.document.forms.form2.thetime.value = myvalue; // replace with this

}

function recalc() {

var hours;

var minutes;

var seconds;

ms = ms - 1;

hours = Math.floor(ms / 3600);

// minutes = Math.floor(ms / 60);

minutes = Math.floor(ms / 60) - (hours*60); // replace with this line

if (minutes < 10) {

minutes = "0"+minutes;

}

seconds = ms - (minutes*60) - (hours*3600);

if (seconds < 10) {

seconds = "0"+seconds;

}

myvalue = hours+":"+minutes+":"+seconds;

// thetime.value = myvalue;

this.document.forms.form2.thetime.value = myvalue; // replace with this line

if (myvalue == "0:00:00") {

stop = 1;

}

if (!stop) {

setTimeout("recalc();", 1000);

}

}

// End -->

</SCRIPT>

Let me know if that helps.
Marty

SongResquester doesn't seem to recognize when I change playlists in Winamp. Here's what I've found:

- Start Winamp with "Playlist 1" loaded. Play a song. The information displayed on the webpage is correct.

- In Winamp change to "Playlist 2". Play a song (e.g. #24 in the playlist). Info on the webpage is wrong -- I see the artist/title of #24 from Playlist #1.

To get the SongRequester to recognize a change of playlist I have to restart Winamp.

Is this a limitation, or a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

It's normal. Don't forget that it's actually a "mini-server" now, so when you make a change you have to re-start it, just like you would on a web server.
