i cant quite see whats so difficult for listeners with the way it is... ? The broadcasting functions are at least one level down, and i dont think a listener only version could be any different than what we've got.

The internal player, the chat room and the channels list... So whats the point of a copy of streamer with the "Bcast" button removed ?

It is not a question of difficult or not . I wonder just if yes or not only listener streamer is planed . That's all. As a broadcaster I have some reasons to wish it .

Thanks :)

There was once published a listen only verison after much requests about it. Then in reality it only got maybe .1% downloads compared to the normal client so it was discontinued.

Why so important to have a listen only version?

The listeners need a "player" to listen . The broadcast and other config parts are not intersting for them and I was asked "what is that all about"? :)
But if there is not only "player" so ......never mind :)

Yeah.. there's a whole lot of other things in Windows Media Player too but people don't seem to have any problem with that. :) Funny huh? Yeah just tell them that that's stuff they don't need to worry about or that they should touch if they want to listen. It's all set up by default for them to listen. Any amount of messing around with those things will just break their ability to listen and they should leave all that alone. If they get into a mess, they can simply uninstall the application, then delete the folder if it's not already gone, redownload and reinstall and it will all be back to defaults again. Hopefully at that point, they will have learned their lesson ;)

It is just to avoid that kind of situation : to explane and to be asked about : how, why ...that I'd like to propose on my page only listener streamer but once again : WE DONT HAVE IT so NEVER MIND.

We do have a "just click and play" feature. The ActiveX client allows the listener to just click on a button, Streamer is installed (if the user doesn't have it) and your station begins to play. When they're done, there's no Streamer client left on their PC. If a user can click a button, they can use Streamer. Can't get much easier than that.... :D

It's on the download page.

http://www.streamerp2p.com/?page=download.htm

Look at the coding example in the ActiveX.zip It's pretty easy to add to your site.

You can see a working example on my site:
Http://www.planettexas.net then click on the "Listen via Streamer" link at the top of the page.

Am I correct in assuming that if my ISP webspace does not allow Server Side includes, I cannot use the Active X? Because I have not been able to get it to work... I merely assumed that was the reason. I'd LOVE to be able to use it, but... free webspace is free webspace!

Oh, dont be sorry for that
THERE IS NOT CLICK AND PLAY solution THERE IS NOT only listener player
You can download a streamer and click on the adresse of a station ( home page ) or you let it ( the same ) install by activx client
IT IS THE SAME ( very good ) streamer

voila

I'm not sure about the free web hosting stuff. I host my own site. One thing to make sure... You are using IE and not a mozilla based browser for activeX right? ActiveX is an Internet Explorer feature.
