I've now tried Zara and I like what I see. I haven't been able to tweak the crossfades quite like I like them yet but time will tell. I'd be more interested in this point to be able to play with the 1.44 version I hear about with the plugin capability. They removed that in 1.6 and many people, including myself don't understand why they did that.

Ahhh... this suddenly makes sense-

I didn't realise that 1.6 had had the plug in compatibility removed... that's why I can't find a menu! lol

As I said before, Harwin- thanks for the help with the titles; it seems to be half working now... The titles are showing, but not the artist for some reason-

I have (I think) set it up in the 'Tags' menu to show title and artist, which it does in the Zara playlist window, but the 'CurrentSong' file only appears to have the title in it...

Just wondered if you have had that experience?

PS: Oddcast hasn't dumped out yet...

I do work with version 1.44 and I will make it available somehow, somewhere. Will sent link in a personal message. Be patient please, won't do this right away.

About the Currentsong thing in 1.6, don't know why this happens but it might be changed in the latest version. There are more of those *song.txt files if I'm right, so check all of them out. Maybe there is one that does contain the complete titel.

But I thought that version 1.44 took the first part of the filename, not the ID tag info at all. So if your music file only has the name of the song then only that will be shown. Do not know if that is the same in version 1.6.

Will find a way to get 1.44 ready for downloading from somewhere. Some usergroup in Yahoo I think. Keep you posted so you can use Plugins, but remember, if you want to use more then one, use a WinAmp plugin stacker, like MuchFX.

hi,
i'm interested too. Use rapidshare http://rapidshare.de/ or better http://mu.dr.ag/
Browse for file, upload, publish link. Easy and we need no membership like for yahoo groups (i hate it, spam source).

WOW this seems to be like the NEW Hot setup for Bcaster...

I may have to check this all out, ALLTHOUGH. I was unable to get the virtual audio cable to work. I will give this a try.

He did buy the VAC and said so BTW. :) It's rather limited in it's free form from what I remember. I got 1.44 of Zara from Fathead. Please post anyhow using the stuff that D-Tracks provided so that others may have. If you have trouble let me know and I"ll just post the one I have.

Thanks D-Tracks that was a golden tip. Have uploaded a zipped version of ZaraRadio 1.44 to Rapidshare

Download:
http://rapidshare.de/files/16532080/Zar ... 4.zip.html

Should do the trick I guess.

It has no DTMF tone detection like in 1.6 and misses some other stuff too. But you get the Plugin part back. Remember to use a WinAmp Plugin Stacker as the only plugin in ZaraRadio otherwise when you use more then one plugin it will bomb out.

MuchFX version 1.11 does the job very well and lets you stack a lot of WinAmp DSP's.

I turn my back for 5 minutes... lol

Thanks for all the replies all...

I am honestly a bit unsure whether to download v1.44 or not now that I have 1.6 working more or less to my satisfaction.

However, the only thing I would now like is to be able to start and stop the streaming plugin at preset times... Can anyone tell me whether 1.44 allows the user to do this?

I am guessing that it is only the DTMF that is extra in 1.6? If so, I can do without that anyway! (Don't really know what it's for! lol)

NB: VAC free version is not much good, but is useful to check whether it works on your PC (See my earlier posts)

To download the ZaraRadio v1.44, http://rapidshare.de/files/16532080/Zar ... 4.zip.html
, you would first have to scroll down on the page presented. There click the [Free] button.

Because it is free, you have to wait a few seconds. Don't let the paypal stuff scare you off.
After the countdown you'd have to fill in a code to be able to download from a mirror. Then click the button next to where you entered the code and you should be able to download.

I admit, it is not very user friendly, but they rather have people using a paid account. But with the extra work it functions too.

Now off course you can also try the Yousendit link, http://s53.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2YCH ... IFKBS9WKG6 , it is much faster and simpler. Next time I will use this instead :D

Ok Harwin, thanks for the help:

I have tried downloading a number of times now and I always end up with this message:
Quote:
Download-session invalid. Please click here.

Possible reasons:

Download-session expired. Direct-links last a few minutes for free users and a few days for premium-users.
You requested this download-session from a different IP than yours. If you use AOL, try a different browser.

I know I'm not a premium user, but I'm not sure about the IP stuff- (I don't think I have a static IP if that makes a difference?)

I just tried Fathead Radio's link and that seems to have worked... Thanks all.

Hello!

I've been using Zara for a week or two now and I have noticed a lot more 'jittering'/jumping when playing mp3s, which is being broadcast and beginning to get me complaints from listeners.

When I switched back to using Winamp for a short period the jittering seemed to stop, so I'm making an informed guess that Zara is the cause of the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem and can anyone suggest cause or solution?

Thanks

L

Hi Lumbered, I'm using ZaraRadio v1.44 from 30th of January, non-stop now. Have not had those kind of problems. And I'm using MP3 as well as OGG.

I have files that jitter, but that it because they did not encode well, staines on the CD, so that is easy to correct.

What could be the problem is the settings I guess. I advice AGC to be set, but also to have a compressor/limiter plugin like the free one from SqrSoft.
Provided that you have enough PC power. Running a StreamerP2P, Oddcast V3.1.8 and ZaraRadio 1.44 with Plugin, you will need at least a 1GHz and more then 256 Mb, under WinXP.

Another thing that may be the problem here is that when you use your PC for more than broadcasting then this might be the cause of the jitter.

This could be caused by opening your email client, and only scrolling trough your mails. This will cause noticeable distortion in your audio, sometimes it acts like a scratching system, othertimes it sounds like jitter.

My wildest guess is that you use your PC for more than just broadcasting. This means processing power has to be shared between apps. While streamerp2p does only need little, Oddcast does need more and Zara needs the most.

You could give Zara more processing power, but you will have to monitor the output to control the wanted effect.

WinAmp can set it's own processing priority and is known not to jitter. An app as VLC does very easy, allthough it is easier on the processor power.
When setting another priority for the application in question things become more stable. But, never set it to realtime, because you will not be able to do a lot more than broadcast.

You could also try getting the latest Oddcast version 3.1.8. I noticed that it does everything it is supposed to now and doing it very stable indeed.

Main point here: processing power shared amongst apps.
In XP goto the Taskmanager and look at the Processes Tab.
Look for ZaraRadio there and click on RMB. Then look at Priority.
TIP: Not logical, but setting it to LOW, might actually do the trick. :D

Hope I could be of any help.
