Hey guys, just installed the new version on a pc at work (that 1.42 worked fine on).

It hangs on the bandwidth test, and in the IP/Ports window, although it correctly discovers i'm behind a firewall, it fails to show my external ip in the list of adapters that are available, it just shows my internal IP.... Of course, this means i'm unable to get a channels list, let alone connect to anything :(

anyone got any suggestions ?

You are probably blocked by a firewall.
Streamer read the IP's of all the net adapters in your PC. If you see no 'real world' IP it means your PC is not directly connected to the net and only to a LAN. This is not a problem, Streamer learns it's real IP when it gets a reply back from the outside world.
No real IP (or anything else) = blocked by a firewall, en evil corporate firewall in this case I guess. Either nothing at all is getting out, or no replies are getting back in.

Streamer 1.42 has not been supported for at least a month and would not be connecting to anything anyway. I suspect '1.42 worked fine' actually means '1.42 worked fine a month ago but since then the company firewall has changed'.

Try stopping Streamer and deleting the 'hosts.dat' file from streamer's folder. Won't fix a firewall but may fix another ocassional connection bug.

heya iain,

Yeah.. 1.42 worked fine when it was in service is what i meant. As for the firewall changing, it hasnt... I'm the IS Manager and I dont recall it being altered in ages. (if it aint broke and all that ;) )

I know I'm behind a cisco pix and have been for years, I was just sure I have seen my external IP addres listed in the adapters. (my home lan behind a linksys router/firewall shows the real ip. Strangely, complete removal of all streamer files and dirs, and a reboot then reinstall and the same problem occurs. I even left it for a good 60 minutes to be sure it wasnt my link being slow..... on a subsequent restart however, the channel list was fully propogated within seconds (like 3 seconds) and everythign seemed fine.

V. strange..
